A case of convenience

The best independent, multiple and large convenience stores will all be recognised at an awards ceremony this evening.

Various other prizes will also be up for grabs at The Grocer magazine’s Convenience Retail Awards event, which takes place at London’s Sheraton Park Lane.

Recognition for good customer service, responsible retailing, best food to go, product of the year and category management will be given, while - in the manner of big awards ceremonies like the Brits and the Oscars - there will also be a lifetime achievement gong presented to an industry veteran.

Expaining what it is like to be an award winner, Convenience Retailer of the Year for 2009 Guy Warner told C-Store magazine last October: “The staff were thrilled to win - and you just can’t buy that as a motivational tool.”

He added: “The other main benefit of the win was the publicity it generated in the local area.”

Stay tuned to find out who this year’s winners are.
