People in restaurant jobs and other roles at food chain Nando’s are happy bunnies, it would seem.
High praise from staff has helped the group finish top of the Sunday Times best big companies to work for list, with the organisation performing particularly well in each of the My Team, My Manager and My Company categories.
More than 6,300 people work at Nando’s, which serves up tasty Portuguese-style dishes and has gained a positive reputation for its hot and spicy peri-peri chicken dishes.
Explaining why the firm is set up for success, Human Resources Director Julia Claydon told the Sunday Times: “The principle philosophy is creating a different kind of place to work - we wanted people to enjoy their jobs and it has been that way from the beginning.”
She added: “Our managers have the same value sets as our company, we want managers who believe that their restaurant will succeed because they look after their staff.”
The only other restaurant group to finish in the top 25 best big companies to work for list was Orchid Group, which ranked in 20th position. It owns 288 pubs, bars and restaurants, and colleagues noted the good team spirit that comes with working for the company.
