Another 99p Stores outlet is set to open in Hampshire this spring, which will create 35 new retail jobs in the county.

Once the shop opens in Fareham towards the end of April, the total number of retail jobs created by the company in the region will have surpassed 500 in the last 12 months.

The company hopes to have opened 200 shops nationwide by the end of the year, which is an ambitious target in such a tough economic climate.

However, Commercial Director of the firm Hussein Lalani thinks the business is tapping into what today’s consumer wants and told retailmoves.com that he is confident of meeting this goal.

“Buying everyday branded essentials for under a pound per product is proving hypnotic for our 99p family of shoppers, who now realise they’ve been paying over the odds for years and say there’s no going back,” he explained.

“They are telling this to us with their custom - and in emails.”

In order to celebrate the opening of the Fareham shop, 99p Stores wants to reward the south of England’s "most prolific shopper" and it is running a competition to find such an individual.

Customers who think they have what it takes to win the title must send an email to 99p@6starpr.co.uk by March 15th, explaining why they are the south of England’s most prolific shopper.

The lucky winner will have the choice of a 99-second trolley dash on the morning of the opening, where they can take home as many single items as they can gather during that time period, or the opportunity to pick the first 99 single items on display, at their leisure.
