Job Description

I am currently recruiting for an ambitious Category Trader to join a growing Online trading team.

Reporting to the Category Manager, you will be tasked with delivering an outstanding proposition including; range, promotions and content for our customers, ensuring that we attract and retain customers, while driving sales and margin.

Your duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Delivering the online P&L for your categories (sales, margin and average item price)
  • Carefully selecting the right promotions for digital features for customers, commercial performance and operational efficiency
  • Creating the right range for customers, commercial performance and operational efficiency, including Online exclusive products
  • Conducting margin deep dives to increase knowledge on what products to drive or add within a range to drive £ margin
  • Ensuring a deep understanding of competitor activity on range and ensure the current proposition is in line with customer needs and requirements
  • Traffic mapping, tracking and amendments made to enhance customer experience and maximise sales opportunity

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Be customer focused and hugely 'competitor aware'
  • Be commercial astute
  • Have excellent organisational skills;
  • Hold a proven track record of consistent delivery against trading KPIs
  • Possess strong analytical and numerical skills with proven track record of performance analysis
  • Ideally have retail / digital grocery market knowledge - Understanding of supply chain and promotion mechanics as well as manufacturing and Food Online operations and the ability to derive value
  • Be passionate about online retail
