Role Details

The delivery of outstanding operational services sits at the core of this strategy and we are therefore seeking a high quality candidate to lead the shopping centre operations team to deliver this goal.
The Head of Shopping Centre Operations reports to the UK Operations Director and is accountable for the development and delivery of efficient and effective operations services to the Hammerson shopping centre portfolio. It is the responsibility of the role holder to lead and manage the Hammerson Operations team based in Reading to achieve these goals. The team provides property management services to four of its centres – Westquay – Southampton, Brent Cross – London, The Oracle – Reading and Highcross – Leicester, whilst also providing in direct support to the rest of the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities will include: -
- Lead the operations team to ensure it delivers on its mission and provides effective support to the business as a whole.
- Manage the setting of the annual service charge budget and liaise with retailers to gain its approval.

Ensure that the portfolio is managed efficiently and cost effectively in accordance with RICS code of best practice.

Ensure that a planned preventative maintenance program for the portfolio is developed and implemented.

Lead cross-portfolio procurement to ensure economies of scale are leveraged where appropriate.
- Direct Health & Safety management for the portfolio and, working with the on-site teams and the Health & Safety manager, ensure that schemes are compliant and any concerns are addressed.
The successful candidate will ideally be a RICS qualified surveyor with post-qualification experience and hold demonstrable experience in property management of large complex assets with retail content with understanding of the key scheme drivers and implementation issues. This role will be based out of the Reading office but will require regular visits to the Shopping Centres across the UK and to the Hammerson London office.
